Sedum morganianum 'Burrito'
Burrito Sedum, Baby Burro's Tail, Baby Donkey Tail
Sedum morganianum 'Burrito' is a trailing succulent with short, plump, lime-green leaves packed in tight spirals along soft, rope-like stems. The wild form of S. morganianum clings to vertical cliffs in the tropical deciduous forest of central Veracruz, Mexico, where it dangles from rocky ledges; 'Burrito' is the more compact and more commonly cultivated form, with rounded leaf tips rather than the pointed tips of the species — some taxonomists treat it as a distinct species, Sedum burrito, though its wild origin has never been confirmed. Each leaf carries a powdery silver bloom — a wax called farina — that protects against strong sun and brushes off easily when handled. It suits a bright, open terrarium where the soil dries fully between waterings; the trailing stems are heavy and brittle, so cascading them over the lip of a wide-mouthed vessel works better than packing them inside.

Propagation
Cut a healthy stem section with a sterile blade, strip the bottom few centimetres of leaves, and allow the cut end to callous for one to three days in a dry, shaded spot. Insert the calloused stem upright into barely moist cactus mix and water sparingly until roots establish — typically two to four weeks. Stem cuttings root faster than leaf cuttings and produce a usable plant much sooner.

Native to Mexico.
