Peperomia quadrangularis
Beetle Peperomia, Trailing Jade, Creeping Peperomia, Beetle Radiator Plant
A compact trailing plant from tropical forests across Central and South America, where it grows as an epiphyte across tree bark and mossy rock faces. Its small oval leaves are a deep green with distinctive pale stripes running parallel to the midrib — a pattern so recognisable it earned the common name 'Beetle Peperomia'. In a closed terrarium it does exceptionally well: the slow growth rate, tolerance of lower light levels, and preference for steady humidity make it one of the most reliable choices for a planted enclosure. Allow the top few centimetres of substrate to dry out between waterings — its semi-succulent roots are prone to rot in consistently wet conditions.
