Nepenthes spp.
Tropical Pitcher Plant, Monkey Cups, Asian Pitcher Plant
Cultivated hybrid pitcher plants bred from tropical Southeast Asian species. They produce tubular traps in shades of green, red, and mottled orange that capture and digest insects. As vining lianas — woody climbing plants — they grow vigorously and are among the more approachable carnivorous plants. They do best in high humidity with bright indirect light and pure water, and work well in large vivarium or terrarium setups.
